Prerequisite:  Basic Manners

The AKC FIT DOG class is an engaging and effective way to safely build a stronger, healthier, and more active relationship with your dog.

This class focuses on teaching you how to use various exercises and specialized equipment (such as balance discs, cavaletti poles, and fit balls) to improve your dog's:

  • Core Strength & Stability: Essential for posture and injury prevention.
  • Body Awareness (Proprioception): Helping your dog understand where their paws and body are in space.
  • Balance & Coordination: Key for agility and everyday movements.
  • Muscle Tone & Flexibility: Conditioning for overall athleticism.

Whether you have a future canine athlete needing focused conditioning, a senior dog benefiting from gentle strengthening, or a beloved companion who just needs more physical and mental engagement, the AKC FIT DOG class is perfect for all breeds and ages. It's a fun, positive, and collaborative workout for both ends of the leash!

WE DO NOT OFFER MAKE-UP CLASSES.  PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

Please bring proof of vaccination to your orientation class.

⭐As a reminder, there are NO REFUNDS or TRANSFERS regardless of illness, injury, or recommendations of your vet after you have registered for class. No exceptions.

**We do love when the family participates in training, however, children must be 7 yrs of age to attend class**

Guidelines for Children Attending Group Classes:

Adult Supervision Required: All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied and actively supervised by a responsible adult (parent or legal guardian) at all times. The supervising adult is solely responsible for the child's behavior and safety.

Appropriate Conduct:

  • Quiet Observation: Children are expected to observe quietly and remain in their designated seating or standing area with their supervising adult.
  • No Running or Loud Noises: Running, shouting, yelling, or making disruptive noises are strictly prohibited as they can startle dogs, interfere with training, and create safety hazards.
  • Respectful Interaction with Dogs: Children should never approach or touch any dog without the explicit permission of both the dog's owner and the instructor. All interactions must be gentle and supervised.
  • Staying with Guardian: For their safety and the focus of the class, children must remain by their guardian's side and not wander away from the group.

Active Participation:

  • Children 7 years and older: With instructor permission and under direct adult supervision, children aged 7 and older may be invited to participate in certain exercises, such as holding treats or giving simple cues, when appropriate for the class and dog.

Minimizing Distractions: We kindly request that guardians bring quiet activities (e.g., coloring books, quiet toys) for children to occupy themselves if they become restless. Electronic devices should be used with headphones and at a low volume.  We do not have cell service in the training area so please come prepared.

Disruptive Behavior:

  • If a child's behavior becomes disruptive to the class, interferes with other students' learning, or compromises safety, the instructor will politely request the supervising adult to remove the child from the training area immediately.
  • This may involve stepping outside for a break or, if the disruption continues, being asked to leave the class for the remainder of the session.
  • Repeat instances of unmanaged disruptive behavior may result in the client being asked to switch to private lessons, which can often better accommodate families with young children, or being unable to continue in the group class.

Waiver of Liability: By bringing a child to class, the supervising adult agrees to assume all responsibility for the child's safety and behavior, and acknowledges that One Smart Dog], its instructors, and staff are not liable for any injuries or incidents involving children.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and productive learning environment for everyone!
