Separation Anxiety Training for Your Dog

Separation Anxiety Package $675 plus tax

Separation anxiety in dogs is a distress disorder where they exhibit excessive anxiety and stress-related behaviors when left alone or separated from their primary attachment figures.

Common Signs of Separation Anxiety:

  • Excessive barking, whining, or howling when alone or when preparing to leave.
  • Destructive behavior (chewing, digging, scratching at doors/windows).
  • Inappropriate urination or defecation when left alone.
  • Excessive salivation or panting.
  • Pacing or restlessness when alone or when the owner prepares to leave.
  • Attempts to escape confinement.
  • Changes in appetite (refusal to eat when alone).
  • Excessive greeting behaviors upon the owner's return.
  • Anxious behaviors when the owner prepares to leave (e.g., clinging, shadowing).

We offer:

  • Comprehensive Behavioral Assessment: In-depth evaluation of the dog's history, triggers, and the severity of their anxiety.
  • Individualized Training Plans: Tailored programs designed to address the specific needs of each dog and owner.
  • Gradual Desensitization and Counter-Conditioning: Step-by-step methods to help the dog become comfortable being alone.
  • Creating a Safe and Comfortable Environment: Guidance on setting up a secure and enriching space for the dog.
  • Management Strategies: Practical tips for managing anxiety in the short term while training progresses.
  • Owner Education and Support: Empowering owners with the knowledge and skills to continue the training effectively.
  • Follow-Up Support: Ongoing guidance and adjustments to the training plan as needed.

Take the First Step Towards a Happier, More Independent Dog

Step 1:  Behavior Consultation

We’ll start with a 60-90 minute virtual meeting so that we can assess your dog’s behavior and create a personalized training plan for you and your dog.

After Your Consultation You Will Have:

  • A better understanding of separation anxiety and why your dog is exhibiting this behavior.
  • An understanding of how our behavior modification process works and how to achieve resolution.
  • A training plan to begin working with your anxious dog.

Step 2: Training Protocol

We can work with dogs anywhere in the country thanks to today’s technology. All you need is a computer with a webcam and internet access. Remote technology is ideally suited for step-by-step work on separation anxiety because the trainer can provide day-to-day coaching without adding an artificial variable to your home. This is extremely important with separation cases. Certified Trainer, Dawn Lowery, will write easy-to-follow steps for you each day to help your dog build confidence in being left home alone, and to bring you the support and relief that you need to resolve this issue to your satisfaction!

4 week package includes:

  • An initial 1 hour consult to introduce the training protocol and make sure we are at the correct starting point for your dog
  • Customized training plans and video review from your trainer of those sessions
  • Four weekly virtual training sessions to assess progress (between 45 minutes and an hour long)

IMPORTANT NOTE

*Initial Consult is a Prerequisite for all behavior issues.

To optimize the results of training, all behavior consultations are done virtually.  In-person training sessions are available after the Initial Consultation except for separation anxiety cases.

Why virtual? Changing your dog’s behavior begins with reducing their stress. Virtual Consultations allow us to meet in a relaxed manner without causing fear or distress to your dog. All you have to do is have a  internet connection and we’ll do the rest!

The Virtual Consultation

During this meeting we will ask questions and we will answer any and all questions you may have.

We set you up for any future training that you will purchase.

Our Consultation is our way of determining what is going on with your dog.

Invite family (everyone involved with the dog's life) to be a part of the call!

After we ask you a few targeted questions we'll teach you everything you need to know about what's going on with your dog and the steps to change that behavior!

PAYMENTS & REFUNDS

Full payment within 24 hours after dates are scheduled is required to confirm your appointments.

Sessions are non-refundable and non-transferable. We do not offer refunds on unscheduled sessions. All sales and payments are final.

One Smart Dog, LLC reserves the right to terminate the training contract before or during its term if the trainer determines that a danger exists to the health and safety of the public, trainer, owner, or dog. Should the Trainer or Owner terminate the training contract at any time before completion, all fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Contracts for ongoing training are automatically terminated if we do not hear from the client for 90 days.  After 90 days, the ongoing training contract will cease.  No refund will be issued for any sessions remaining on the contract.

GUARANTEE

Our services are not guaranteed. Dog behavior is not static and can change over time due to developmental periods, aging, and health. Pet owners influence their dog’s behavior and must do the assigned training homework for optimal results.

TRAINING SUPPLIES

Clients are responsible for providing the necessary materials needed for training. Including, but not limited to: treats, toys, leash, collar, harness, etc.

TRAINING METHODS

One Smart Dog uses reward-based methods that are backed by science to modify your dog's behavior.  Because a reward makes your dog more likely to repeat the behavior, positive reinforcement is one of your most powerful tools for shaping or changing your dog’s behavior.  The use of pain, fear, or intimidation may lead to fear or aggression.

PRIVATE TRAINING NO-SHOW

All no-show sessions will be forfeited automatically. There is $25 no-show fee that must be paid after a missed appointment within 24 hours in order to continue training.
